| This is what the tour is like! |
We will leave Waikiki at 6 PM. A Japanese guide and a veteran driver will pick you up at your hotel. |
About one hour later, we will arrive at the Waianae Boat Harbor on the western side of Oahu. |
We will then board a sturdy catamaran and being our cruise of Oahufs western coastline. |
First, we will offer a prayer for the safety and success of our voyage. We will perform the gEhomaih ceremony, singing together and offering flowers to the sea. |
We will then head west in search of dolphins. The dolphins sometimes appear right after we leave the harbor, and sometimes they are near Kaena Point, the westernmost point on Oahu, and sometimes they are in a sacred area off to the west. Please bear in mind that you will swim at a different location on the day of your tour. |
Then, we will measure your fin size, pass out snorkels and life vests, and begin preparations so that you can swim at any time. Let our friendly local crew members help you. |
We spot some dolphins, the stars of todayfs show. The dolphins often swim directly under the boat and frolic on the waves. |
You will be led into the water by local beach boys raised in Makaha. When there are a lot of participants in your tour party, we will provide additional glocal boysh so you can swim without any worries. |
The type of dolphins in these waters is mainly gspinner dolphins,h a small dolphin which spins while it jumps. Although they are gsmall,h the large dolphins can sometimes be this big. |
Since they spin while they jump, gHawaiian Spinner Dolphinh is the English name of these bottlenose dolphins who are skilled at making spinning jumps. |
Actually, wild dolphins in Hawaii sleep while they swim. That is why we swim quietly. The beautiful, mysterious world of the dolphin opens up before us. |
After swimming with the dolphins and feeling refreshed, how about some sweet, juicy pineapple? We have some Japanese green tea prepared as well. |
In the meantime, the boat moves to a snorkeling spot where there are fish and turtles. |
Surrounded by a school of Hawaiifs unique bright yellow surgeonfish, |
You swim with the sea turtles and you feel as though you are in a palace at the bottom of the sea. For the people of Hawaii, the sea turtle is the guardian deity of the sea. Since the turtles are on the verge of extinction, you cannot touch them. Please just enjoy them with your eyes. |
We lower a kayak at the spot where the fish and turtles are and everyone takes turns riding it. |
On days when there are nice waves, the local staff will take you kayak surfing.
While everyone is playing with the turtles, on board the captain is grilling meat on a barbecue grill. |
As we make our way back to the harbor, on board we will serve you cheeseburgers hot off the grill. |
From December to April, there are days when we encounter humpback whales who come from Alaska to raise their young. |
Before we return to the harbor, the local staff will entertain you with a hula show. |
It was really enjoyable playing with our ocean friends during our three hour trip around Oahu's western coast. |
Finally, at a park near the harbor, letfs dance the hula, which is deeply entwined in the region of Waianae. Dancing the hula outdoors, surrounded by nature, is rather refreshing. |
With lots of things to see and do, there is nothing better than a fun-filled dolphin tour! Why donft you give it a try? |
